• 3D Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope VK-X1000

  • Interferometer

See how the VKX-1000 3D Laser Scanning Microscope can give you all the benefits of a interferometer without the limitations!
    • Non-contact profile, surface roughness, and film thickness measurements
    • Nanometer resolution
    • Material and shape independent
    • Fully automatic measurement & analysis
  • What is the difference between interferometer and laser scanning confocal microscope?

    • Common challenge for interferometer is to position the sample as flat as possible. Thanks to confocal laser you do not need to worry about sample positioning any more.
    • Compared to interferometer, 3D laser scanning confocal microscope VKX-1000 is resolving easily even very steep angles up to 87.1 deg.

  • What are the other benefits of using 3D laser scanning confocal microscope VKX-1000?

    • Like interferometer, VKX-1000 has very high height resolution of 0.5 nm, but also for steep and tilted surfaces .
    • No problems in measuring large height steps, up to hundreds of micron height, which is outstanding compared to interferometry.
    • Lateral(/optical) resolution higher then interferometer, substantial for roughness measurements.

  • How does a laser microscope work?

In difference to interferometer, confocal optical microscope VKX-1000 is combining white light with a laser light source. Laser scanning confocal microscopes are able to scan a surface and collect both an optical image and high-resolution surface data. Nanometer-level heights can be measured by analyzing the intensity of the returned laser light relative to the z-position of the laser.

  • Why choose a laser microscope?

Conventional 3D measurement systems, such as contact profilers or interferometers, can damage the material being measured or are unable to provide data on certain materials and surfaces. In comparison to confocal optical microscope you do not need to prepare your samples. These devices can also be costly, time-consuming to operate, and difficult to use.

  • Steep Angle Measurements

  • Automatically Compare and Analyze Multiple Surfaces

  • High-resolution Color Imaging

  • Evaluate up to 42 Different Roughness Parameters
