Cutoff (cutoff value)
The cutoff refers to the predetermined wavelength to be removed from a primary profile. A roughness profile is created by removing the long-wavelength component from the primary profile, and a waviness profile is created by removing the short-wavelength component from the primary profile. When the contact-type surface roughness measuring equipment was the analogue equipment that performs the measurement using its electric circuit consisting of capacitors and resistors, 2 CR filter was normally used. With digitalisation becoming more popular however, the phase compensation digital filter (Gaussian filter) has been widely used in recent years. The cutoff used for MultiFileAnalyzer is Gaussian filter as well. |
