Cutting Swarf Adhering to Aluminium Sashes
Cutting an aluminium sash generates swarf charged by the friction with the blade. Since the surface of an aluminium sash has been anodised, the electric charge of the swarf clinging to the sash does not dissipate. Consequently, the swarf adheres to the sash by the Coulomb force.
Conventional countermeasures
Air gun
- It cannot eliminate static electricity, and increases the charge instead, causing secondary adhesion.
Dust collector
- The effect is insufficient.
Countermeasures with static eliminators (ionizers)
Effective dust removal measures can be taken to reduce complaints about delivered products.
Improvements and Effects
Words from the worksite
Reduced complaints about delivered products
Various costs can be reduced such as the cost for addressing complaints, cost for air gun operation, and cost for installing dust collectors more than are required. It is difficult to calculate the effect of just the static eliminator; however, significant costs can be reduced. Moreover, there is a great benefit in the improved level of trust in the manufacturing quality.
